the princess quest

Running around town yesterday for the princess outfit was more of an effort than I imagined it would be when I first got the idea. Trying to find a tiara or princess hat that will fit a grown woman is not an easy task. Oh, some of the retail stores had four dollar tiaras for small girls, but my buddy Nicole isn't three years old. I must have easily spent two hours driving to one place after another looking for something that was getting harder and harder to find. Perhaps if I had gone to the costume party store first it wouldn't have been as much of an effort.

While I was at the costume store, the female clerk there was very helpful. Maybe she thought that the idea was cute or maybe she thought that I was cute. I'm not sure. Maybe she was just trying to make a sale. I never did bother to ask her.

The clerk was so helpful that she let me make a phone call using the store phone, which may or may not have been against company policy. I had to consult with my partner in crime, Ann, on whether I should get a tiara or a cone shaped princess hat. Ann said to go with the hat instead of the tiara even though it cost more. Soon I was walking out the door with a royal purple princess hat complete with gold braid and a golden scepter to match. My quest has been fulfilled.

...

Wrapping gifts is not a talent of mine. Even though the gift was in a square box, it still took me three tries to get it right. Getting more and more tired didn't help either. However, I finally managed to create a very feminine looking present nestled inside a pink gift bag surrounded by pink wrapping paper.

...

Today was the second day of class and once again J Crew girl was already sitting in the room by the time that I got there. Without giving it too much thought or making too much of a scene, I casually took a seat close to but not quite right next to her. I wasn't going to crowd her. Then the instructor said that I had to move so that we could form a circle for discussion. This meant that I had to sit immediately to the left of J Crew and so I did.

Dressed in yet another gray top, she looked relaxed and lovely as ever. I think that she must know that gray goes with her eyes.

There wasn't much time for idle chatter though. I did, however, get her attention by answering a question in class. It seems that her point of view was different than mine and the next thing that I knew her full attention was on me and I couldn't be happier. Here we were arguing a point about the book that we were reading and the class shrunk down to just her and I.

Intelligent. Attractive. Now all that I had to do is find out if she is seeing anyone already. That question will have to wait for at least another week though, because all of the next week will be spent going to another class for work. I won't be able to see or talk with her for days, but I am sure that I will survive.
