sydney at night

Most of today was spent in the air, but something amusing did happen at our hotel. We were issued our keys to the room and once we got into the room we couldn't figure out how to turn on any of the lights. Yes, we tried the switches, but none of them seemed to work. This went on for about five minutes or so until I noticed something next to the door. The instructions said to insert the key to the room into this slot on the wall and so I did. Nothing happened. Then I pushed down a little harder, heard a click and then the all of the lights in the room came on at the same time.

It sounds simple enough, but it was the first time that either of us had ever seen this done in a hotel room. It makes sense. When a person leaves the room all of the lights will go off at the same time and probably saves the hotel on their electic bill.

Thankfully we didn't call the desk and sound like complete idiots.

...

The room was simple enough and the patio outside gave us a clear view of hanging laundry complete with underwear. This didn't matter though since we didn't plan on spending that much time in the hotel. All that we needed was a place to store our clothes while we saw the city and a place to sleep at night.
