august comes next With one hour left in the day last night, something happened that cheered me up. As I pulled into the parking lot of where I work, I spied two deer standing right in front of me. I came to a complete stop and just watched them walk around in the glow of my headlights. This only lasted for a few minutes, but it was enough to lighten my mood before I actually walked into the building. ... I think that I collapsed an hour after I got home from work which isn't that unusual for me on a Wednesday morning. Then when I did finally wake up I tried to tackle my cd burner problem. After downloading various software updates, I am beginning to think that the cause is hardware related. Although I have no idea what I may have done wrong the last time that I disconnected the external burner from the tower, something must have happened somewhere along the line, because the burner worked just fine a few months ago. Now all that it does is make a clicking sound over and over again and never recognizes a disc. Yes, I never did use it that often, but that doesn't mean that I didn't need it. Sigh. ... On the pop culture front, I have to admit that I like the single from the latest Stone Temple Pilots album. Scott Weiland also shows the amazing results of the drug rehab diet. The man seems to be giving Iggy Pop a run for his money in the wasted look. The band Sum41 makes me laugh with their Pain for Pleasure video tacked on to the end of the Fat Lip video which for me is just another rehash of the Green Day, Blink182 look at us we are cute but also vaguely punk at the same time approach to music. To put it another way Sum41 has the same kind of we are aggressive, but not really threatening lyrics that all of the kids can shout along with in concert. Well anyway what I like the most is the band posing as Satan's Sluts doing a dead on impression of the Iron Maiden sound. Very funny stuff in the same vein as Spinal Tap.
