digging irish graves

After being disappointed by the few that I saw earlier in the season, last night I finally saw a play that I liked. A Skull in Connemara actually made me laugh. It had been described as a dark comedy and I'd have to say that that was an accurate description. These were not the stereotypical Irish doing a jig and living life to the fullest. These were people just living.

Hearing the words "feck" and "feckin" being used by every character on stage also added something to the play.

I took my sister Hope with me to see the play and I think that she liked the play even more than I did.

I woke up at five this morning like I seem to do on Mondays. I didn't call Nicole this morning. Instead she was in my dreams. She was driving somewhere and I was following her in my car. As we drove trees kept blocking the road. The rest of the details are even more vague if that could be possible.

Two and a half hours. I spent two and a half hours visiting with my grandma this afternoon and I have to confess that part of what I predicted was right. She did not look the same. A stroke does horrible things to a person and she looked the weakest that I had ever seen her. I can not imagine what she must have looked like in the hospital. Then again now they say that when she was in the hospital they thought that she was going to die.

I was as positive as I could be and did what I could to be encouraging. Obviously she is not happy to be there and told me that she wanted to go home. I said that she would.

My five year old niece accompanied my mom and I on our visit. Personally I don't think that my niece has any concept of death and or dying and that must be a wonderful way to live. She would run up to some of the people there and just start talking which is something I would never do. Besides the awkwardness of the situation, it just isn't in me.

The people seemed to love her and the attention that she gave them. I suppose in some ways she was better than any therapy that the people there could have been prescribed.

On the music front, I have been listening to the new Alanis album called Under Rug Swept.
