A cold rain fell on me as I walked to and from class this afternoon with it falling harder on the return leg of the walk, which I suppose is a good thing. I'd rather let my hair dry in the car than in class. At least in the car I was able to give it a good dog like shake to get rid of some of the rain that I had collected there.

Today was the midterm exam and I think that I surprised the rest of the class by being the first person to hand in the exam. Quite often I am one of the first people to finish and that usually means that I knew the material well and that is how I felt this afternoon when I walked out of class back into the rain. I almost felt like giving a wink to Amanda and Miss Flax who were sitting in the front row as I handed in the exam, but I didn't.

As far as I was concerned there was nothing on the exam that hadn't been mentioned in the review on Tuesday. The answers were fresh in my mind and I shouldn't be too worried about my grade when I get it back next week.

Seeing Italian soldiers marching in front of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice seems odd to me. Two years ago when my brother and I were there that wasn't the case. Actually I am getting the impression that Americans abroad are not a popular thing this year. Oh, I don't mean to say that Europeans don't want us there. Americans just seem to be a very active target for threats of terrorism.

For my return to Europe in May, I keep combining Denmark and Sweden together in my mind and I probably shouldn't. When people do the same thing with Wisconsin and Illinois I get a little offended since from my perspective there is a real difference between the two states. However, I am sure that someone from California, if they could even point out Wisconsin on a map, they wouldn't see any difference.
