prisoner of war

Besides a three hour nap yesterday that happened while I was visiting my parents, I was awake for all of Sunday and I was happy that I did so. Soon I'll be back in school and my free time will be limited again so I want to make the most of this final week before everything goes into high gear. Today, however, I don't think that I was as successful as I was yesterday.

Oh, I woke up early enough, but there wasn't the same amount of energy as I had on Sunday. Maybe energy isn't the correct word since I was half asleep for most of Sunday, but I didn't feel as productive. Then again I did sleep for more than three hours and still had an afternoon nap, because a third shift schedule is hard to shake. What this means to me is that I may have had too much sleep today instead of not enough.

A good part of the day was spent off loading files from my computer in preparation for a new operating system upgrade that I plan on doing later this week. Naturally this meant that I wanted to save everything that I thought was important, before I reformat the hard drive. Of course I let myself get distracted and started to download some movie trailer files. Nothing that I saw really grabbed my attention, but I still like to see what is coming later this year.

One of the trailers that I saw was for T3: Rise of the Machines and my first reaction to it was why are they making another one. Does anyone care anymore? I don't. Am I the only person who loathes blatant cgi in a movie?

As for some of the other trailers that I saw the George Clooney remake of Solaris might be interesting and I have yet to reach a decision about The Gangs of New York.

Maybe in keeping with my recent World War II theme of Charlotte Gray I watched some of a public television program called War Behind the Wire. Two episodes aired back to back focused on Allied escapes from German prisoner of war camps. I must confess that I was switching back and forth from that program and Meet My Folks so I didn't get the full impact of what they described. I did, however, see enough to realize that it wasn't as light hearted as Hogan's Heroes wanted us to believe not that ever brought into their over the top version of a camp.

Note to self: Do not leave eye glasses on couch or you will sit on them and not realize it until it is too late. Sigh. At least I had them a year before this happened. Hopefully I can have them bent back into their proper shape sometime tomorrow.
