they said later Yesterday was brutal in terms of sleep, but I knew that that was going to happen. Plus I knew that today after work I would be taking my car to the dealership to have some maintenance done on it. What I didn't know was when they would be finished. I had been told some time ago that it was a three hour process, but that didn't mean that they would work on it as soon as I brought it to the shop or at least that is the way that I understand it now. Sigh. In hindsight I should have gone to sleep as soon as the shuttle took me back home. Then the dealership could call and leave a message telling me when my car was ready. Sadly that is not what I did. Instead of going to sleep, I waited three hours and expected them to be finished. Three hours went by and it was explained to me that my car wouldn't be ready until later in the afternoon. Thankfully I will not be repeating this process any time in the near future. ... It was over two decades ago, when I first read The Last of the Mohicans so maybe that skewed my expectations from the Day Lewis and Stowe film version that I watched today, but something felt off. Now obviously I wasn't expecting an accurate reproduction of the book, but I have no memory of a romance in the novel. Plus everything that they did in the movie felt modern despite the clothing. To be honest the best part of the movie for me was the scenery. I was very impressed by what should have been upstate New York, but was in fact North Carolina when I read the credits. |
