getting even warmer

Two days into my four day weekend and I couldn't ask for anything better than what I have had so far. Not having to go to the internship has given me so much free time and I am loving it. No longer am I rushing to be somewhere. No longer am I wondering when I will get some sleep. I feel like myself again and I am having fun.

Once my regular class was done this afternoon, the rest of the day was mine and that meant a stop at the comic book shop. My monthly shipment had already come in the mail so I didn't need to go there for books. What I needed was a new box for storage. Thankfully I stuck with that plan and only walked out with one book besides the box. The latest issue of Y : The Last Man was on the shelf and I was willing to sample it again. Wildcats got cancelled and I want something to take its place.

...

Since spring is here that means that the local bird population is fighting or territory once again. That would be fine with me if said territory wasn't the top of my air conditioner. A simple knocking on my patio window is usually enough to scare them away, but it does wear on me.

For some reason that I forget I decided to walk out onto the deck and saw something that I didn't expect to see. Lying there on the boards was a dead bird. Sigh. Now I have no idea if I frightened the bird and it flew into the roof or if something else happened to it. However, it may have died, its presence there didn't seem to deter any other birds from coming by.

...

Amongst the books that came in the mail was the final chapter of the Here Comes Tomorrow story that ended Morrison's run on the New X-Men. Well, Jean is dead and I hope that she stays that way. According to Joe Quesada, when a Marvel character dies they are dead. There are no more resurrections. There are no more stories saying that the previous story never happened. I somehow doubt that that will be an issue in the next movie.

With Morrison moving over to DC there isn't much reason for me to look at the Marvel output. Waid and Wieringo are doing some interesting things on the Fantastic Four, but it doesn't really appeal to me. The Hulk still moves at an incredibly slow pace and Captain Marvel is finally going to end. I may pick up the last issue drawn by Keith Giffen, but other than that one book Marvel has lost my business.

Wait. I spoke too soon. Brian Michael Bendis is going to dismantle The Avengers and I guess that I'll have to be there to see it happen.
