floating zen monastery

Some time ago I saw a movie directed by Kim Ki-duk called The Isle and found it to be mildly disturbing. Today I saw another film of his called Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Here is how Netflix describes the film:

This exquisitely filmed drama directed by Kim Ki-duk is entirely set on and around a tree-lined lake where a tiny Buddhist monastery floats on a raft amidst a breathtaking landscape. The story is divided into five segments, with each season representing a stage in a man's life. Under the vigilant eyes of Old Monk (Oh Young-soo), Child Monk (Kim Jong-ho) learns a hard lesson about the nature of sorrow when some of his childish games turn cruel.

Some of the reviews thought that the movie moved too slow or was one cliche after another. Others saw it as a meditative film that had personal meaning for them. For me my opinion falls somewhere in between those two extremes.
