monster of iceland

Having been away from home these past few days, I was somewhat at a loss of what to do today. Oh, there were things that needed to be done such as getting some groceries and doing laundry, but I wasn't sure where to start. Keeping track of the days and or having any real kind of a schedule wasn't something that I had been doing. Time went by and it didn't really matter to me what did or didn't get done. I was on vacation and most day to day matters could wait until later.

That carefree attitude clearly wasn't shared by everyone else though these past few days as was shown by the mail that was waiting for me upon my return. Inside the stack was a number of bills with my property tax bill being the largest of the group. Looking at those pieces of mail brought me back to reality in a hurry. Seeing them wasn't a complete shock, because I knew that they were coming soon, but writing checks for large amounts of money is never something that I enjoy.

ABC is slowly winning back my attention with their show Lost. Tonight's episode was quite good and I don't think that I'll waste any more of my time on Smallville. I still have no real idea of where the show is going in terms of plot, but at least it moves forward each week whereas Smallville maintains the status quo week after week.

My primary reason for renting the movie No Such Thing was the fact that Sarah Polley was playing the main character. Noticing that Helen Mirren and Julie Christie were also listed in the cast made me hopeful. Other than knowing that the three of them were in it I knew nothing else about the movie. Now having seen the movie, the first word that comes to my mind would be strange. I suspect that the director was trying to make some kind of statement about the exploitative nature of journalism, but it didn't really work for me.

I spent a total of three hours on the phone today talking with my mom and this was not something that I had planned on doing. Something had happened to their computer and she needed me to fix it. The first call with her lasted two hours and everything that I had her do didn't work. Thankfully by the time my second one hour call with her ended everything on her computer was back to normal. Obviously she was happy by the time we hung up and so was I. She may not have learned anything from my troubleshooting but I certainly did. What had happened to her was completely new to me and it took some serious research on my part before I came up with a solution that worked.

Looking back at the songs that I downloaded a year made me laugh to myself. I did burn them to a disc, but I can't think of the last time that I listened to it.
