january brings snow Lanes were non existent when I drove to work last night. Roads were simply areas of white marred by some tire tracks. Driving in those conditions didn't really bother me. What did annoy me was watching people drift into what they thought may have been a lane and then a little later back to where they started. That kind of behavior did not make me happy and I tried to keep my distance from those people. ... When I left work this morning, I didn't have any problems with the roads. The snow plows had clearly been doing their job while the night turned into day. Then I got to my place and saw that the parking lot had yet to be cleared. Daring me was ten to twelve inches of virgin snow. Parking on the street wasn't an option and I wanted to get my car in the garage so I lined my car up with the driveway and accelerated. Then I stopped and not by choice. The combination of snow, the dip before the slight incline of the driveway and the low rise of my car were enough to grab the front tires of my car and stop any movement. Forward and backward were suddenly beyond my power. All that I could hear was the sound of spinning tires and my anger rising. Thankfully a neighbor was shoveling across the street and was willing to let me dig myself out. Five minutes later the whole event was over, but that didn't take away my frustration of having gotten stuck twenty feet from my garage. It just didn't seem funny to me at all. |
