visiting london below Before today I didn't know that the Neil Gaiman story Neverwhere was a mini-series before it was a novel. I had thought that it followed the usual pattern of book first and then a visual version, but that isn't the way that it happened with Neverwhere. This new piece of knowledge was gained by watching the first of a two disc DVD set of Neverwhere. On the commentary Neil explains that while Neverwhere was being shot, he was usually off to side making a novel out of his screenplay. I remember the basic plot of the story, but it was years ago when I read the book, so most of the finer details have been forgotten. Now having seen the first three episodes, I would like to read the book again to see what was different between the two versions, but I would have to get a new copy first. Years ago I let a friend from work read the book. That was fine except for the fact that she moved and took it with her when she left the state. I was not happy when that happened. The book was never meant as a gift and I had only read it once. |
