not very prehistoric When I wasn't trying to ignore the sound of my niece's Gameboy, I did manage to get some reading done on the multiple hour drive Thursday. Now thanks to the March issue of National Geographic Adventure, I have a slightly better understanding of some of the Anasazi ruins scattered throughout New Mexico. Since I have never been there, the Southwest is one of the few places in the United States that is almost completely unknown to me so any information is appreciated. There wasn't anything that earth shattering in the piece. For the most part it was a reaffirmation that the people who inhabited North America before the Europeans got here weren't that primitive. They may not have had gunpowder or a written language, but the Anasazi knew astronomy and how to build incredible cities in the mountains of the desert. |
