barr aparo outsiders

The first snow of the season fell yesterday, but for me personally there was little cause for concern. Thanks to an overabundance of salt on the roads and above freezing temperatures, there wasn't more than a dusting on the ground when I drove home from work this morning. Now the real question that I have is whether or not there will be snow on the ground before Thanksgiving. I wouldn't be disappointed if there wasn't, but a blanket of white does add something nice to the overall effect of the holiday.

Since Saturdays are very slow days for me and the weather was less than inviting, I got plenty of comic book reading done today. Having read all but one issue from my last Mile High shipment, I delved into my unread back issue pile for something new. What I chose to read was a stack of Mike W. Barr and Jim Aparo era Outsiders that I procured in an online auction last month.

Before I go any further, I must mention that I have yet to read as to how the team was first formed by Batman, but I think that I prefer the team without the world's greatest detective with them. Brion, Jeff, Gaby, Rex, Tatsu and Lia are an interesting group of people. My best guess is that they were called Outsiders, because none of them are what one would consider Justice League material. One might go so far as to call them second stringers and this minor standing is what makes them more entertaining in my mind. Plus when the book was new, their pasts had not been fixed in time yet. Everything was fresh for exploration and I wonder why their second series lasted a mere twenty-eight issues.
