Thanksgiving in September
I spent the day at my parents house. Actually I was there from last night. My mom had told me that my brother was home for the weekend. He is going to school in Superior and I haven't seen him since the semester started. So I went over to visit after work yesterday. My parents live an hour away and rather than drive home I decided to spend the night.
I had just fallen asleep on the couch when my seventeen year old sister came home through the front door. In my sleep, I thought that I was at home and that someone was breaking into my house. The next thing my sister saw was me running at her. My addled brain thought that she was breaking into my house. I was ready to beat the crap out of whoever it was coming in the door. You have to remember that I live alone. This means that no one comes through the door when I am sleeping. Well I managed to scare her and wake most of the house with my shouting. I was half asleep and operating on pure reflex. Misguided reflex at this point though. Part of me knew that the door was on the wrong side of the house from where I live and it registered in my brain where I was and I stopped.
I fell back asleep after the adrenalin had subsided.
It was so nice today that I spent the rest of the day there. It was kind of a small vacation for me. This included a very nice turkey dinner complete with all of the trimmings.
The food has made me sleepy and I am going to bed.
