Lighten Up

I must confess that this entry is being written at the very fringes of the beginning of the day. I am one hour shy of the midnight hour and then it will officially be the tenth of October.

My mood has improved a great deal from earlier tonight. Music and the night tends to have that effect on me. Plus I read some of my favorite online journals.

I am listening to Girlfriend by Matthew Sweet again tonight. Its a great concept album exploring all the different aspects of relationships. A friend told me that the new Foo Fighters album is the same way, but I haven't heard it yet.

Most of yesterday's entry was written at work. Ugh. The work day just crawls by for me. A friend even said that I always look tired when I am at work. He's right. I am tired. A month ago I was sleeping during the day. I asked for next Thursday and Friday off. I need to get away for a while. Plus work has a little something in store for me at the end of the month. They are sending me on my very first business trip. They see me as a valuable employee and are sending me to school in Omaha, Nebraska for three whole weeks. I'm holding my breath with excitement. Yeah, whatever.

I guess that I shouldn't complain. I like to fly and this will be a first for me. It will also look really good on my resume. I guess that I am full fledged member of the business community now. I have my hotel booked and a car rented. They are even giving me a laptop computer to use while I am there. That means that I should be able to update while I am there. Eric on remote location in Nebraska.

By the way, I love the album Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen. It has to be the darkest album that he ever wrote. It is leagues above Born in the USA as far as I am concerned. Very simple, just him and a guitar. No pomp. No fluff. No fanfare. These songs really are part of the American mythos for me. I'll have to bring the cd with me on the trip.

The words just seem to flow better at night. Like I said before I am a night person.

Today was a good day. Work went smooth and I spent most of evening wavering between idle thought and writing email to various people.

Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting, because it is laundry day. Plus as an added bonus I am going to go visit my parents. Hey anything can happen. Oh the sarcasm is getting to me.
