The Wyeth Clan

During my lunch hour this afternoon, I read an article about the Wyeth clan. The article was in my latest issue of Vanity Fair so it was more of a gossip oriented article than one about art. The main focus was on the fact that the father was sleeping with the wife of one his sons. This adultery issue really didn't interest me as much as the illustrations of the paintings. I guess the article was worth my time because my knowledge of the Wyeth painters is so limited that I have to read whatever I can about them.

Before I read the article most of what I knew about the Wyeth family was limited to Andrew and his work. I also knew that his father was more of an illustrator, but that was the extent of my knowledge. Now I know that the family was composed almost entirely of painters. These kinds of families always interest me, because the amount of creative energy in the house must be amazing. The energy is probably accompanied by some major egos, but I doubt that life is dull.

Work hasn't really bothered me lately. I'm numb to most of what goes on around me while I am there.
