Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

only on holidays

With the change over to daylight savings time, I had to work one less hour before my weekend started. It took a while, but eventually all of the computers in my area changed over to the new correct time for the next few months. Of course after watching about two dozen clocks change I forgot to change mine when I got home and showed up an hour late for dinner. The one clock that I did change right away was the one in my car, so I knew that I was late as soon as I started to drive over to my aunt's house.

It was a nice simple holiday for me with plenty of free food. Most of the day was spent with my father's side of the family while my parents and some of my siblings were with my my mom's side of the family. I only see these people during the holidays which I guess is normal for some people. Sometimes this bothers me, but a good portion of my father's side of the family lives out of state so it isn't all my fault.

There are times when the conversation comes to a complete stop. Once I am finished giving the update on what I am doing with my life, I really don't have that much to say. It isn't that I don't like my relatives, but I see them so infrequently that we are truly worlds apart.

Then there is the age difference amongst the cousins. The majority of them are under the age of eighteen. What they are doing now, I did over a decade ago. An even more extreme case would be my one uncle who is only nine years older than me whose wife just had a baby seven weeks ago. So now there is an age gap of over two decades.
