Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

thirty hour day

Today was not nearly as active of a day as yesterday, which is to be expected because there wasn't any family gathering to attend. Actually yesterday ended with me falling asleep at my parents house. After being awake for thirty hours, I just couldn't make the drive home. It seemed like too much of an effort. So today began with me driving home early in the morning.

The biggest event of the day was me battling the latest heat wave at my house. To avoid having a room temperature of eighty-six degrees, I now have two window fans going at the same time and it seems to be working. My biggest complaint about the fans is that they are unsightly and I wish that I could hide them somehow.

With my trip a mere two weeks away, I am trying to keep my spending to a minimum. I want to have as much spending money as possible when I am away. I did, however, have to get out of the house for a while and spent some time in a bookstore this afternoon thumbing through some Star Wars books.

Now I know how some of the special effects were done, but this always bothers me a little. With this new knowledge, the illusion created by the movie is shattered. It isn't as though I saw the characters as real people, but I still feel as though something was taken away from me. Maybe I just don't want to see the film from an adult perspective.
