second eye blue Although it doesn't come across from what I wrote yesterday, I really was excited about ordering the new computer almost to the point of being high. For hours I poured over stacks of computer magazines and visited one online shopping site after another looking for what would be the perfect machine for me. I knew that this investment would have to last me for at least two years. My current system has been in use for close to three years, which almost makes it ancient in computer terms. What is even scarier is that I put more thought and research into buying my computer than the car that I bought a few years ago. I guess that this shows where my priorities lie. Since I bought a new system, I have to put a freeze on my leisure spending for a few months. I had enough saved to pay for it, but now I need to save more for my Europe trip and or house next year. There is another reason for the short entry yesterday. Once the computer high subsided, I fell asleep at about one thirty in the afternoon and said goodbye to Sunday. The next time that I opened my eyes was one o'clock Monday morning just in time to see Serpico for the first time. It was the feature film on the late show and I have to confess that Al Pacino was actually good back then rather than the parody he has become now. Robert De Niro also falls into the same category. When he was in Taxi Driver and Raging Bull he was amazing, but all of that is gone now. After sleeping for nearly twelve hours, all that I could remember from my dreams was one small fragment. I was traveling through Europe on some tour bus. Now none of that was very strange except instead of going to see famous attractions, I went to comic book stores. I made it through the afternoon without falling asleep by doing some grocery shopping. The small amount of food that I had gotten from the big Thanksgiving meal was long gone. Once I was back home, I basked in the heat of the sun pouring through my livingroom window. Four panels of heat passed over my groggy self and I was tempted to move my bed into the livingroom for the winter so I could catch the warmth of the noon sun on a regular basis. My copy of Blue, the new album by Third Eye Blind, arrived in the mail today and I wasn't disappointed. Third Eye Blind is one of the few bands around today that I would buy an album from without hearing any of the songs first. The small sample of the song The Background that I heard on the television show Cupid nearly a year ago was what made me want their first album. Just those few seconds was all that I needed to make up my mind. Of course there is one disadvantage to waking up at one in the morning. By the time the sun sets, I am ready to fall asleep.
