Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

One thing I neglected to mention in the previous entry was that Saturday night Sunday morning had to be my busiest night at work in weeks. Usually as my week at work winds down, I can get some reading done at work, because there is so little to do, but this wasn't the case this time. Instead of being able to sit back and read, I was on the telephone for close to five hours trying to solve a problem that had me very confused. Actually when I left, the problem still wasn't solved and the oncall person came in to cover until the next person would get there a few hours later.

It was a big enough problem that if it had happened during the week, I am sure that I would have heard about it from the rest of the crew for days. However, since it happened on the weekend, no one really seemed to care except me and the person that came in to help. Then again I might have some kind of thank you email from my boss waiting for me when I get back to work on Tuesday.

Once again I tried to get a tree for Christmas, but everyone is so busy now that I can't seem to get anyone with a truck to take me. I guess I could do the drag home from the lot thing if there was a place a little closer to where I live. A couple drawbacks to this idea are the extreme cold that we have here and what the tree would look like by the time that I got it home.

I'm not quite sure what I am expecting from Christmas this year. For me it isn't that big of an event and most of my time will be limited since I am working both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I'll see my family on both days, but in some ways it is just like any other week for me. All of the emotional content has been drained from the holiday and I really don't get into the whole gift giving scene. Maybe this all sounds sad, but I truly believe that Christmas is more magical if you are a child or in love and at the moment I am neither of those things.

Despite my ambivalent feelings toward the holiday, I would have to say that today was a good day. I only ventured out into the cold once to make sure that my car had a full tank of gas, which was enough time to let me know that staying inside was a better idea. Then once I was done with my errands, I spent the rest of the day reading safe from the cold outside.
