Saturday The Wife and I were at the mall. We passed Waldenbooks, where a clown was making balloon animals and handing them out to the kids.
"What are you, some sort of clown?" I cracked as we walked by.
"He's probably crying inside," Sonya observed promptly. This made me laugh. A lot.
"All clowns are sad," she continued, "I know you've heard that song - Tears of a Clown."
The Wife had me tickled in the mall. She's something else.
Later that night we went to the Spaghetti Warehouse to have dinner with Christie (long-time friend and classmate from college and high school, not The Good Witch) and her cousin, Judy.
A word of advice for all the guys out there who have impregnated someone: for that first Mother's Day, get a good gift. If you don't know if your gift idea is good, ask someone. Preferably a woman. Tell her to be honest. Otherwise there will be hell to pay.
This is important.
Not much else happened this weekend, really. Donna came over Friday night; we drank wine and talked relationships and piercings. She's getting a new apartment soon, and a new car. And a pet. Donna's life is changing all over the place. We went grocery shopping Saturday afternoon and did laundry for most of the day Sunday. Sonya made breakfast Sunday morning. We watched the Mallrats DVD, which includes all manner of fun things. It was a good weekend, if low-key and unspectacular. The bills are paid, though, and we've got groceries. Cash is safely stashed away for the trip to London and I'm picking up some dry cleaning on my way home today. I've started eating meat and peanut butter again, though I've learned how to moderate my intake of both. Tonight, I run for the first time in god knows how long.
And yesterday was my sister's birthday. Happy
birthday, Dawne. You're the best big sister a boy
could have.

I couldn't FTP, or even access my Freeservers pages last night. It was the damnedest thing.
What do y'all think of the Freeservers pages, anyway? Sonya has complained at some length about the banner ads. The price is right, though. Maybe this summer I'll go ahead and spring for the domain name I've always wanted.
A couple of things, quickly. I went to the mall at lunch today. I went in to the gadget-and-geegaw, Sharper Image-type store there. I found a big, exceptionally loud white noise generator. I set the main sound to Forest Birds and the secondary sound to Foghorn. When I left, it was going
"Tweet tweet tweet....whoo-ooh, whoo-ooh... tweet tweet tweet..."
I was very proud of myself.
I also saw a mom, pushing a stroller with a baby therein, with two toddlers following her, talking into one of those Startac radio-phones. She looked like a Secret Service agent under particularly deep cover. I laughed at her. I think she wondered why.
"Mommy-1 to Voyager...Mommy-1 to Voyager...we have a condition-critical Number Two scenario...request clean-up equipment ASAP."
And the Wife and I are going to Mardi Gras. Just
for Saturday, but we must have our fix. It's required.
Besides, I got a sweet deal on a room in the French
Quarter, so it must be meant for us to go. I'll bring
you some beads.
