April 28, 1900

The funeral of Dr. W. T. Arrington, prominent Memphis dentist who died at the Peabody Hotel, was held today. Pallbearers were: James K. Porter, W. W. McDowell, J. J. Williams, A. J. Harris, H. T. Lenow, T. C. Looney, Joseph Orgill and P. P. Van Vleet.

Afterwards, Mr. Williams was quoted as saying, "it is my fervent hope that, a century hence from now, some scalawag of a descendant of mine does not mock the funeral of this great man."

Then Mr. Williams went with the rest of the pallbearers to see a performance by the Ladies of Grace Church.

Thoughtful, and a touch sad.

Sonya's stunning logic renders me speechless.

Okay, say your a painfully sensitive singer-songwriter who had a well received first album but you hate the machinations and compromises of the record business.

Wouldn't an excellent title for your next album be Gilded and Gelded?

If you'd like to use that give me a call; we'll work something out.

The thing is I have very little to say today. I wrote about all the exciting things that have happened yesterday. And, while the weekend promises to be both busy and intriguing, do you really care to hear me specualte about how my weekend might go?

You do? Lovely!

House and grocery shopping this afternoon, cleaning and laundry this evening; Sonya goes to the salon in the morning for her nails, a possible family thing tomorrow afternoon, a party at Ben's tomorrow night...hopefully, Sunday will be quiet, though I have a feeling we'll be looking at more houses at some point. And I think we're going to have a meal with Shawn (the cutter of hair) some time, too. Busy, busy, busy.

This means I'll have something to write about tomorrow, and maybe Saturday...but not today.

Sad, yes?

Um...I went to the post office at lunch today. I sent some money so I can go to my ten-year high school reunion. I may not go, but I wanted to have the option of changing my mind several times between now and then. And I got three day passes for the music festival next weekend, and I browsed at Cat's. And I got some pizza and some gas. Not gas from the pizza, but, you know, gas in the car...you know what I mean.

Pathetic. I have nothing else to say. Perhaps while we're looking at houses something interesting will happen. We'll find a lost treasure in a spare bedroom! Or a band of squatters who have settled in a garage!
