Effluvia

When we finally get a house I want a Run Lola Run poster in the original German, an English Sid And Nancy poster and hopefully some Warhol.

In my new house there will also be pepper spray and plenty of it. And snap-batons (a la Riley on Buffy) and several Louisville Sluggers. I suggest you not break in.

Space: 1999. What were they thinking?

One of the most important events in our nation's history.

From Sonya: fling the cow.

WASHINGTON - John W. Foster, former secretary of state who was in Washington today, says disaster threatens England as a result of the present war in the Transvaal with the Boers.

Upon further questioning, however, Foster could not state where the Transvaal is located.

"Europe, I guess," he said, rolling his eyes.

Gallina's

I went to Gallina's Exchange for lunch with a couple of coworkers today. Gallina's is old-school, Italian-by-way-of-the -south food - I've never had cheese manicotti with onions and bell peppers in it. But it was real good.

And garlicky! I'm like totally living in a garlic haze now. It was comfort food in the best possible way.

These two coworkers are deadly funny, too. They've worked together before and they have a mad, porno-based patter that keeps me laughing when I'm in their company. They call each other Ron, as in Ron Jeremy, Porn Star. I've never heard two people make so many references to jizz and cocks in everyday conversation about pasta.

Contest! Fill in the blank and send your caption in for the picture on the right - I'll make you a CD or something if yours is the best one.

Tonight the Wife and I are going to a going-away party for Shelley, a coworker from the old job and frequent drinking partner. She's moving to Portland so it's a serious going-away and therefore deserving of a party.

Later: The party was fun. Lots of beers and Shelley's respectable friends. Glen was there, too, and regaled us with stories about his plans for GlenFest, the upcoming weekend which features his birthday and promises to be a big deal. He's had t-shirts printed, for god's sake.

Updates are iffy over the weekend; we've got company coming in for the music festival, and the GlenFest festivities promise to be both distracting and time consuming. I promise to tell you all about it later.

And hey, Christie! Congratulations!
