time to go home The final hour and a half at work quite often will become something that I like to call story time. The morning crew is wandering in for the day and not quite ready to work. So to cushion the transition they are more than happy to just sit and talk, which is fine with me since I am winding down. Sometimes, however, I end up leaving late, because the talking just doesn't stop when my shift is over. I try to politely end the conversation and make my way to the door, but there are times when I just can't get away and today was one of them. In the space of twenty feet, three different people stopped me and kept me another half an hour at work. Each person had a completely different story to tell. One coworker told me about shopping for a new stove. The second conversation was triggered when another coworker saw a copy of Shampoo Planet in my hands. Then as I had my hand on the door handle, my boss stopped to tell me about a new software package that we would be using next week. I guess that if this is my biggest complaint about my job, then I have it pretty good.
