some family news

After having people mill around my house for the past two days, I was finally able to leave for a few hours and it felt good to be somewhere else. Of course I am grateful for all of the work that my landlord did on my place, but his being there did take up most of my weekend time. I needed to either get out or at least have some quiet time to relax. With people going in and out of my place most of Saturday and Sunday this was not a possibility.

Ever since I bought my new system, I had planned on giving my old computer system to my sister Hope as an early birthday present. My being there also gave me some time to catch up on the latest family news, because the last time that I saw them or spoke with them for any length of time was at Christmas.

Marriage is the one word that I wasn't expecting to hear my little sister talk about any time soon, but while I was there she told me that her boyfriend had proposed to her and she accepted. Even though I was happy for her, I didn't quite know what to say when she first told me that she was engaged, but I did manage to say congratulations. Hopefully I didn't appear too shocked. I guess a small part of me still sees her as being very young. Then again I think that most older brothers must feel this way about their younger sisters.

I wanted to talk with my brother about our Europe trip, but he wasn't home from work by the time that I left. I guess that we'll have to work out some of the details through email.
