one more inspection

I knew that today was going to be a long day. Earlier in the week a note had been left for me saying that my landlord and an inspector would be stopping by Saturday afternoon to look at the insulation improvements that were done a few weeks ago. Two thirty was the appointed time for said visit, which unfortunately falls right in the middle of when I usually sleep. So in an effort to stay awake I gave my house a thorough cleaning before they arrived. Of course after all of the effort that I spent to keep busy, the inspection took all of ten minutes.

There was one other benefit in staying awake as long as I did. After I was done cleaning, I got to see The Lady of Burlesque with Barbara Stanwyck on television. Something about her appeals to me and I can't think of any actress today that would be her counterpart. For example, people often say that Tom Hanks is the Jimmy Stewart of today, but I'm not sure if there is a Barbara Stanwyck in films today.

Snow was falling as I drove to work, but I didn't mind. Instead of being a full blown blizzard, it was more of a gentle wet snow falling to the ground as I drove. About the only complaint that I had was that enough snow had fallen to hide any real indication of lanes, so I picked what looked like the best set of tracks to follow and did the best that I could. Thankfully traffic is never a problem when I go to work and I could take my time and not have to avoid anyone else on the way there. Most of the time it is just the police and myself on the roads at that time of the night and the falling snow made them even more empty.

Milwaukee had missed the last storm that came through the state as it veered a few hours north of the city to deposit six inches of snow. This time however it looked as though we might actually get something that wouldn't melt in a day, but I wouldn't know for certain until the morning. Personally I think that it would be nice since it has been a very light season for snow this winter and I am getting tired of the drab landscape. Knowing that we still have another two months to go before everything turns wet, muddy and then finally green makes me want to see snow even more.

On the security camera at work, I saw three deer walking around in the snow. From what I have heard there is a feeder for them there, but I'm not sure if that was why they were there or if they were just passing through the area. The why doesn't really matter, because it was nice to see deer while I was at work.
