the march tornado With more cloud cover today, the temperatures didn't rise quite as high as yesterday, but still being able to have all of the windows in my house open was pleasant enough. Something about having all of that fresh air in the house was really nice after having my house sealed up for so long. Nor did the cloud cover stop me from sitting out on my porch to read for a few hours. Without any leaves to absorb any of the sound, I could hear everything as I sat out on my porch this afternoon. The low hum of passing cars in the distance mixed in with what seemed to me the non-stop sirens of multiple fire engines. The odd part is that the nearest fire station is a good three miles from my house, but the sirens were well within my range of hearing. Listening to them drone on and on was about the only drawback to being outside. Then later as the night started to fall with it came the storms. Not only was there lightning and thunder, but there were tornado sirens mixed in as well. From what I could see out my window the weather seemed violent enough, but it wasn't until I turned on the television that I heard that a tornado had touched down in the city. The tornado itself didn't cause that much damage, but it was a record seeing one this early in the season and touching down in the city itself. More often than not these storms usually roll right over the city and into the lake. Over the past week a couple of local new stories have made me laugh. The first one has to do with the Green Bay Packers. It seems that the organization is losing money and may go bankrupt within the next five years. If this happens they will be forced to liquidate and leave the state. There is even talk of the franchise traveling to Los Angeles and I think that this is a good thing. I would be more than happy to wave goodbye to them. The other change will also happen soon. Milwaukee will no longer host what has been an annual event for years. From now on GenCon, a convention for people who love to play fantasy adventure board games, will now be held in Indianapolis. Personally I won't miss either of these things. Wisconsin has such a poor image to begin with that I think that we can stand to lose a gaming convention and people who like to wear foam cheese wedges on their heads As cliche or awkward as it may sound, I feel like myself again. Having had the past three days just to think about things is what I needed. True, none of the past entries reflect any of that thinking, but I did reach a few conclusions. Basically I know that things are going well for me and I want that trend to continue throughout the year. In order to do that I simply need to keep myself more focused than I have lately. I also need to keep doing something physical to free my mind. I suppose that this boils down to common sense, but every so often I still need to remind myself.
