sea of tranquility I drove home shortly after midnight. The clouds that had lingered through the day were gone. In their place were stars caught in a deep black sky. I wanted to stop and look, but I needed to get home. I really should get back into astronomy. While visiting my parents yesterday, they had the Oscars on the television for most of the night and I found it to be dull as usual. About the only thing I have to say about the show is that when Spielberg invests in a movie he wants it to win something. I can't think of any other reason why American Beauty won any awards, because it really wasn't that good. Actually it was more fun listening to my mom and sister comment on what the women at the ceremony were wearing than seeing what films won awards. Oh, before we watched the Oscars, MTV was on the television and I realized just how out of touch I am with what the lowest common denominator of pop culture is at the moment. Then again that might be a good thing. The thong song would be a perfect example. My life would have been much better without ever having heard it. Today was a completely stress free day and I have to say that that is a good way to start a vacation.
