human error In hindsight I imagine that what I wrote yesterday probably sounded a little extreme if not downright strange. Sometimes I just seem to dwell on things more than I should. I also have a tendency to reexamine the past more often than most people or I experience what I like to call my Billy Pilgrim effect. ... I wonder if I could write an entry without using my usual motifs. From what I can see there are about five of them. The first one would be my indifference to my job, yet I don't leave. The second would be mentioning a problem with an old girlfriend. The third would be an account of sleep that I did or did not get for the day and what caused that to happen. The fourth motif would include something that I saw on television or read in a book that made an impression on me. Then my fifth and final motif would be my thoughts on the weather. The formulaic aspect is very sad and it tells me that I need to do something different. ... In my defense my coworker did mention something else about me yesterday that was more positive than the fact that I have gotten more vocal since I started working at the company. According to him I also seem to be able to get along with just about everyone that I meet at the company. This ties in nicely with what I was saying about speaking to people about different things. To use a phrase commonly heard in college environments, I have a well-rounded knowledge which lets me talk about a variety of things. I also tend to listen when people talk to me rather than formulating a response like most people do. ... Last night I saw Ann for the first time since last Saturday and I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew that she had stayed late Monday night to chat with Nicole and my counterpart. Now as to whether or not they told her that I was a little upset with her, I can't say. She did however apologize to me for last week and explained to me what had happened to her. At first she started telling me what went wrong during the day and then slowly I got more and more background information. Soon over an hour had passed with me listening to her talk. It was nice to hear her talk again and I made her laugh.
