alejandra john lacey Most of this week was spent in a mental haze. Somewhere after the craze of the holiday activity I was left with a mild head cold and couldn't breathe. More than once this week I woke with blocked sinus passages. Hydration became a number one priority in life with water being my primary savior. Thankfully that changed today. The falling snow this morning made me change my mind about seeing the movie All the Pretty Horses. It could wait until tomorrow when trying to leave the mall parking lot would be less of an adventure. ... Earlier this week I found an astrological profile for my sign that said some things that were very close to what often say about myself here. Some of the highlights included a love if not a strong need for travel and impatience with a boring job. It also said that I need to find a job that challenges me on an intellectual level. Now I realize that this is probably just coincidence, but I still found it amusing. In fact here is the entire profile: Fiery Sagittarius, the most optimistic sign of the zodiac, is ruled by lucky Jupiter. Direct, freedom-loving and a joy to be with, your good-humored, philosophical outlook inspires many. You love giving advice, sometimes finding that your blunt approach appears tactless and indiscreet to others. Try thinking before you speak -- if you can find the time! Sagittarians are perpetual travelers, seeking challenges that will ultimately lead them to the deeper meanings of life. Your quest for knowledge may lead to restlessness, but it will be impossible for you or anyone else to impose restrictions until you yourself can clearly see your life's path. Your extremely intelligent and independent way of thinking makes you a natural teacher and leader as well as perpetual student. Stagnation and routine kill your spirit, and should be avoided at all cost. You dislike formality and often shock people with your casual attire at important occasions. Sagittarians prefer a fun, loose lifestyle which may appear disorganized to others, but a bohemian approach to living (including lots of great food and drink) is essential to you. A boring job will not be tolerated. If forced to attend to details, you may find yourself making mistakes right and left -- not for lack of smarts, but because you just don't feel you should waste energy on the 'petty' things in life. You will therefore do well in a career that provides a great deal of space for your intelligent brain. Sagittarius is far more interested in intellectual satisfaction than in money, which will most likely be spent on study and travel rather than on a home, furniture or even clothes. Your idealistic lack of interest in the material side of life makes you well-suited for top-level careers in non-profits or social service occupations. Keep in mind, though, that you will probably need a very competent assistant who will pick the papers off your floor and maintain your voluminous calendar! You have a knack for participating in complicated relationships; the Sagittarian need for limitless freedom is legendary. You don't really want to hurt anyone, but your large appetite for love requires a variety of experience. Since you tend to live in the moment, you take your lovers seriously -- but only while you're with them! Some Sagittarians never marry, saying that they take commitment very seriously and are waiting for 'the one' -- and wind up waiting their whole lives! Other Sags practice serial matrimony; each time they make a commitment, they honestly believe that 'this time I have truly met my soul mate.' You commonly mistake sexual attraction for love, and neglect to realize that an intelligent mate who is as much a friend as a lover is more important than romance. You also need to keep in mind that a clingy, suspicious partner will imprison your boundless good nature. ... Most of what was said in the profile sounds good to me. Now all that I need to do is find that kind of job and don't get involved with another needy woman. As for the formality aspect of my character, I would have to say that that is true as well. I haven't owned a suit since I was fourteen. When I graduated from college, I wore jeans. To paraphrase George Michael sometimes the clothes do not make the man. Complicated relationships would be an understatement for me. I never seem to go for the simple boy meets girl approach. Twice in my past the girl was married when we got involved. ... Ann and I were discussing books before she left. She likes the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time books, while I prefer something a little more sophisticated. Something about science fantasy really bothers me and I just can't bring myself to read it. Other people must like it though, because Amazon considers it to be one of its best sellers.
