no more mir

With this whole week being my spring break, one would think that it would have been a fun and exciting one for me. Somehow most of it fell short of that hope. On Tuesday instead of going to class most of the day was spent watching an outing to see a movie that I had planned on Sunday fall apart. Hours before we were meant to go, two people called to say that they couldn't go and then the third never returned my calls. Today was just as memorable. Instead of being in class, I spent close to three hours having my car worked on in the shop. It wasn't anything serious, I just needed the brakes on my car replaced.

After sitting through about an hour and a half of the Today show and then most of The Rosie O'Donnell Show at the garage, I wandered over to the local mall to do some shopping to save my mind. Thankfully I walked away with a great guide book about Bali for four dollars. Normally it would have cost double that price. I also priced some guides about Australia that I'll go back and get with the gift certificate that work gave me last year.

Now having spent the money on the brakes, I am starting to think that I might get a new car before I go away on my trip in May. The brakes were understandable, but the list of items needing attention on my car that the garage gave me was frightening. Yes, I realize that it is their job to try and get as much money out of me as possible, but it still bothered me. Rather than putting any more money into this car, I would prefer to get a new one and start over.

The phrase leaking head gasket is not one that I like to hear.

...

Most of the night was spent researching my trip to Australia with Melbourne being my first city of attack. Ever so slowly I am getting a better idea of what I hope to see and do while I am there.

In some ways Europe made more sense to me with its compact size and immense history. Now this time everything will be spread far apart and will have a history roughly the length of the United States.
