something to say Here I am again, one year older and probably not that much wiser. I have no idea why I was so chatty yesterday. Yes, I was home for most of the day and had plenty of sleep, but the entry even took me by surprise. Actually after reading it again, I would have to say that politics doesn't suit me. I do better with more personal concerns than broad social issues. ... During the night a cold front crossed the state and I could tell that the warm weather was gone even before I got out of bed this morning. The freakishly warm weather was nice while it lasted. Now that we have the cold maybe the snow won't be that far behind. A foot of the white stuff has already fallen in the nothern half of the state, but the ground is still bare here in the southern half. ... Horoscope for today: Not very long ago, things were moving along so well that you thought that by now you'd be living in a castle. Well, it didn't happen, did it? That, actually, is a rather good thing. You still have a little bit more to learn regarding this path you're on, and if the rewards came too soon, then you'd be missing out on a great bit of the treasure. Not only will you gain wealth and peace of mind as a result of the tribulations, but you'll gain wisdom that could only come by your trip through the fire. Okay. I have no idea how I want to translate that one into something that I can use. ... Smoke Signals was about what I had expected to see. Rather than being a social commentary film it was much more of a straight forward coming of age on the road kind of film, which is fine. Both of them worked well in terms of what they tried to say. As an added bonus it was fun to see two cast members from Northern Exposure in a film. I wish that I could get down that Native American accent down and use the word ennit on a daily basis. A classmate came up to me and told me that she thought my presentation on Tuesday was great. It was nice to hear that from someone and know that I struck a chord, but at the same time I have never been very good at accepting praise for what I say or do. It almost always sets me off balance. ... On the romance front I didn't speak with either Mattie or Valerie. There just wasn't enough time after the film ended. That leaves me with just two more chances next week. After then both of them will out of my life forever. They'll have become my Party and J Crew Girl for this semester. Summer emailed me a happy birthday which was a nice surprise. ... Pop culture note. The heavily hyped sequel to The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Back came out this week. Having just read a copy today I have to say that I am pleased. There is something very satisfying in seeing Bruce, Ray, Barry and Ollie beating the crap out of perpetual boy scout Clark Kent. ... It might have been a rerun, but it doesn't matter. What I do know is that comedy is alive and well in America. Ozzy Osbourne singing Puff the Magic Dragon with Conan O'Brien is funny. Actually just listening to Ozzy talk is funny enough in itself. Every time that he speaks each and every word is so garbled that I have to wonder about his mental faculties. Then again I still think that if you gave him a haircut and put a tweed sweater and cap on him, Ozzy would be just another middle aged Englishman. He would be one step away from being Benny Hill.
