she wants out

Last night at work was busy and that change in pace caught me by surprise. The previous three nights had been slow which made being back easy to adjust to after being away for a couple of weeks. Suddenly there wasn't any time to relax and the job became the focus of my night. Obviously I made it through the night, but it wasn't what I had expected and or wanted from the night.

Then before I left work this morning, I overheard an argument between Nicole and her boss. From some of the details I heard it seems that she was trying to tell him that he plays favorites in his department and that isn't fair to her. She had a point, but she started to get so upset that her eyes were tearing up and turning red, which did not help her cause. I have no idea what he thought of what she said to him, but the two of them walked out of the room through different doors when they were done.

Later I called her on the phone to see if she was okay and got more details from her about the argument. She was fine when I spoke with her and wanted to know if I thought that he would fire her. It was something that she wanted and she said that she tried her hardest to get him angry at her. In the past she has called him a baby to his face and this time she said that he lied about things in the department.

The saddest part about her situation is that next to her fiance she has to be the most experienced and qualified person in her department so her boss needs her despite any personality disputes between them. There is no way that he could fire her without some questions being asked.

I still don't know if her life would be better or not if she had a different job.
