her laundry service

Before I left work this morning, my boss spent about fifteen minutes or so talking with me. He was going over some of the changes that will be happening soon in the department and hinted at a new project that I might be interested in heading. I understood what he meant, but at the same time I didn't volunteer my services. I need to know more before I tie myself to something that might make my job more miserable than I want it to be.

Of course I should be more positive in my attitude since my fourth anniversary with the company is at the end of August and I'd like a new pay increase. Sigh. I hate having to be that way to get again. It is so not me.

Tonight I watched the movie Jerry Maguire for the first time in years and I had forgotten how attracted I am to Renee Zellweger. I'd seen her in Empire Records before she made it big with Tom Cruise and also liked her in the Whole Wide World, but I have yet to see either Nurse Betty or Bridget Jones's Diary. I still can't figure out why she was attracted to Jim Carrey after she made Me, Myself and Irene with him. Thankfully I haven't see that one either.

Yes. I did a search online just to make sure that I had her film career correct and was delighted to see that she will be in a film version of the novel Cold Mountain. I love that novel and hopefully she'll be able to save a visual interpretation of the book.

The casting choices are perfect or at the very least I like the people that they chose. Jude Law is amazing and I think that I've said before that I adore Natalie Portman and it'll be nice to see her do something outside the realm of Lucas.

I keep wanting to talk about why I love to travel and I always seem to run out of time, but I'll try to make a start today. Rick Steves of public television travel fame says that Europe for him is where his family came from so he sees going there as a way to get in touch with his own history and part of that holds true for me. Yes, some of my family did come from Europe, but that wasn't the case where I was this last trip. There is no Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian or Polish blood in my veins, so obviously the lure is more than personal history.
