Near the midnight hour a cold front rolled through the state bringing heavy rain with it. For a few moments I stood at my deck window watching it fall then walked away and laid down on the couch to watch another episode of Globe Trekker.

I was starting to think that I had seen them all, but Ian Wright in Iceland and Greenland was a new one for me. Now after seeing the episode I'm not too sure that either of those places holds that much appeal to me. Iceland might be okay, but Greenland is too sparse for me. I think that I need someplace that has more civilization to it. That doesn't mean that it is off limits to me, I just don't think that it would be that high on my list of places that I have to see.

...

After a two week absence I was back on campus this afternoon and it felt good to be there again. Not too surprisingly things had changed slightly since I had last been there. The biggest and most noticeable difference would be the amount of people moving around.

From my weeks there this summer I had grown accustomed to the ghost town feel of the campus, so seeing people everywhere was slightly different and nice at the same time. To put it another way the change was something that I welcomed, because a campus should be filled with activity and that is definitely what I saw today.

The first day of class is usually an odd mix of disorientation, excitement and adjustment for me. By now the campus is very familiar to me so I knew where I needed to be, but that was the only element that had remained the same for me while almost everything else had changed. For example, my last two classes had been with the same professor so I wasn't sure what to expect this afternoon from the instructor. Oh, I knew that I would find out soon, but it was certainly not something that I could predict.

Once I realized that the professor was pleasant enough, I could look at my new classmates for the semester and there were plenty of them for me to watch. In fact there were more people than seats and I started to wonder just how popular and or important the class was for people.

Here is where my slight outsider status on campus takes over. I understand the program, but at the same time I don't have anyone else to ask about it. I just have to do what I think works best for me.
