hold her again Going back to work for three days after being away for six scrambled my brain more than I thought that it would. All that I can say is that the change in environment was not something that I wanted and most of the time that I was at work I just wanted to be back at home. Thankfully that finally happened today. Besides a small amount of frustration early this morning, the last day at work wasn't that bad which I guess is something that I should appreciate. Then as I was about to walk out the door to start my weekend, I caught a glimpse of Nicole heading upstairs for a smoke break. Naturally I went to join her, not to smoke, but to talk. The two of us hadn't spent any time together in almost two weeks and I missed her. When I sat down by her, she was in a good mood and had some new stories for me which is what I wanted. I listened as I always do watching her expression change as she talked. Then she realized that she was being watched by someone from her department so the two of us headed back to her area where the stories continued. Apparently my talking with her was not something that was welcomed, because one of her bosses came by and asked if I was helping or just wasting time. Sigh. Why they ride Nicole so hard whenever she is talking to me is beyond me. I wasn't causing any trouble and they know it. What was even worse was that I couldn't think of anything clever to say except that I was going home. At least I didn't leave right away. I merely pretended that I was going. Nicole's birthday is this coming Sunday and I'll be getting her a present even though she says that I shouldn't. She may not be my girlfriend, but that doesn't mean that I can't spoil her a little when I want. I just have to keep my present from being too personal or I'll get her fiance angry at me again. Once again I suspect that it was him that kept her from me these past two weeks or so. I could be wrong of course, but that is what I think happened. ... With the temperature outside hovering just above zero, tonight was a perfect night for staying home and watching television. First on the schedule was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It took me a while to give the show a chance, but now in its decline I watch when I can. Putting aside the vampire aspect which I still find silly, there is some genuinely good writing with Spike and Anya having some of the best lines. Then as the credits rolled it was a quick switch to Smallville, where they are still tweaking what I had thought was a frozen mythos into something fresh and interesting. |
