our tottering state Once again the Milwaukee Rep gave me a taste of English history on stage with Richard III. Now as much as I like Shakespeare, I have to say that I was a little disappointed with what I saw. The set itself and the costuming were fine, but some of the performances were less than to my liking. What bothered me the most was whenever a character died, they walked down a flight of stairs built into the floor of the stage. I found that extra flourish to be annoying if not overly distracting. Falling down onto the stage would have been enough for me. |
