clocks turn back

Patches of heavy fog this morning made the commute home more interesting than usual. It wasn't heavy everywhere that I drove, but the thick spots of fog made an impression of me and are worth mentioning. Wherever the clouds were the thickest, the sun was just a white disk in the eastern sky and I could let my eyes linger in that direction longer than I normally would. One could almost imagine that the sun had become the moon. For me it met the definition of sublime or came close. Seeing that strange image was a nice way to end a quiet enough first night back at work.

During the beginning of the night, there had been some animated discussion about a departmental meeting that had been held earlier in the afternoon. The overall mood that I got from the people who were there for said meeting would best be described as sour. None of them were happy with what they heard. This did not surprise me and I felt better knowing that I was not the only person who has problems with the way that our department is run. Now all that I have to do is keep that in mind when I attend a smaller version of said meeting this coming Monday. Whatever is said, I can't let it affect me for very long.
