some wednesday wondering

At two thirty this morning, my day started. It wasn't something that I had planned, but when I fall asleep at four in the afternoon the previous day waking up at two the following morning makes sense. Ten hours of sleep is more than enough for me.

Since Wednesday is the only day of the week where I have no outside responsibilities, I want the day to be fun, but at the same time there are things that need to be done around the house. Sadly this leaves me torn for most of the day. I can't let myself completely relax until I do something productive and today was no exception to that feeling.

After taking some things out to the garage and doing some loads of laundry, I felt that the rest of the day was mine to waste.

Wasting time took the form of watching the movie The Shipping News again and making my way through a stack of Tom Peyer era Legion of Super Heroes. I doubt that there is any connection between those two things other than the fact that I own both of them.

Tom Peyer may be a capable writer, but his version of the Legion was not to my liking. He came on the heels of the Giffen and Bierbaum era and he went in the other direction in terms of tone for the book. The team was young again and with that change he brought back the code names and costumes that I really didn't miss when Giffen was around. Maybe the Five Years Later Era created more a backlash for DC than I realized, but Giffen appealed to me and seeing the Legion become juvenile was hard to read.
