exploring fictional worlds Falling asleep wasn't a problem when I got home from work this morning. The sleep that I had gotten on Sunday was far from refreshing and my body was eager to get back what it needed. However, before I let myself slip away, I managed to read some comic books. Yesterday I had stumbled across some issues of Rising Stars that I had bought months ago and set aside for later reading. Why I put them where I did is beyond me so I was happy when I found them. They were not where they should have been stored. Those books being misplaced for so long gives me another reason to organize my second bedroom. Losing things in that room is far too easy. Once the three of them had been read, I breezed through an issue of The Elementals and I don't think that I could have found a better contrast in terms of writing style. Both titles have something valuable to say, but I prefer Willingham over the preachiness of Straczynski. Bill creates characters that are more human as opposed to the archetypes that JMS likes to present in his stories that tire me after a while. |
