early morning sunday Very early this morning, I got an email from my sister. She just wanted to let me know that she was now in Kuwait. Her flight had left New York last week Friday, but with the various delays and layovers it took that long to get there. Sand and more sand is what she said that she saw there and I can believe her. It must have been a shock to go from upstate New York that has been hovering well below the freezing mark and covered in snow for weeks to a desert. Cold gave way to heat. Hearing about what my sister was seeing and doing helped me focus. For most of Saturday, my head was up my ass and as a result of that condition I spent about a hundred dollars or so on something completely unnecessary. It was not something that made me happy. Until yesterday I hadn't used a credit card in months and that was going to be the trend for the year. Maybe if I hadn't been as tired as I was after work, I wouldn't have let that happen. There isn't anything that I can do about it now except pay the bill next month and keep saving as much money as I can for Europe. ... Since I neglected to bring any homework with me to work last night, I got to read some back issues of X-O Manowar that I had brought with me on Friday. I vaguely remember seeing them on the shelves when they first came out, but I was getting tired of the comic book industry at that time and was ready to quit. In fact about a year later or so, all that I was reading on a regular basis was Cerebus and Sandman. Valiant imploded years ago, but from what I have read of X-O Manowar, they published some good books. Now people are saying that CrossGen will go the same way. |
