film noir women

Yesterday morning came to a close with my watching the Rita Hayworth movie Gilda while eating a frozen pizza and for me that wasn't a bad way to end a quiet night at work. Film noir has always appealed to me and there was just enough of that kind of feel in Gilda to change my mood. By the time that I closed my eyes, I was in a much better frame of mind than I had been all day Saturday.

Gilda is only the second Hayworth movie that I've ever seen. Years ago when I was heavily into Orson Welles and anything that he created for the screen, I saw Rita in the glorious black and white film The Lady from Shanghai and loved her in it. The only other exposure to Hayworth that I had since then was the famous poster of her used in the movie The Shawshank Redemption.

If I do anything before the end of the semester, I need to work out a better schedule for my Monday routine. As it is now, I feel awful by the time that I have to go to work at night, because the small amount of sleep I get is broken into two or three hour segments and that is not working well for me.

The downhill slide starts for me once I get home from work in the morning. With four hours between class and getting home, a nap always seems like a good idea. However, when I wake up three hours later to make the drive to class, I feel like a zombie. It isn't until class is almost over that I start to feel human again. Then once I am home, I have to wind down again from the crazy rush hour traffic or else I won't get any sleep before I go to work.

Three hours of sleep in the morning with another hour or maybe two at best before I go back to work is not doing anything positive for my body or mind.
