somewhere remote perhaps The 1939 Cary Grant film Only Angels Have Wings got me through the afternoon. I like Cary Grant, but he wasn't the reason that I rented it. No, I wanted to see the movie, because a very young Rita Hayworth was in it. She did not disappoint me. I can't think of a modern day counterpart for her, then again a woman in movies isn't expected to dance, sing and act at the same time anymore. The story wasn't that interesting, but the clothes that they wear always makes me wonder, how much of that was costuming or something that the man on the street would wear in daily life. |
