sudden afternoon downpour Having been aware of New Order since the mid 1980's, I thought that I knew a great deal about the Manchester music scene. Now after watching the movie 24 Hour Party People, I realize that there was more to know about that era than what I knew. First of all, the name Tony Wilson was unknown to me. I had no idea that he founded Factory Records and in a sense shaped Joy Division and later new Order. As for Happy Mondays who were his other project, I was never into their music so that part of the story held less interest for me. ... I hadn't read an issue of Savage Dragon in months and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Erik Larsen isn't appreciated by that many people in the market, but he does have a unique style that entertains me. Quite often people see his style as being too over the top and or retro for them. However, I liked the two most recent issues so much that I may have to add it back to my monthly shipment. |
