waning moon friday Despite what I said the other day, I'm still watching movies and reading more than anything else with my spare time. Neither of those activities costs that much money and they do make me happy. For years Dog Day Afternoon has been a part of movie collection and today when I saw it again I immediately remembered why I wanted to have it. In my opinion it has to be one the best performances that Al Pacino has ever done. He is Sonny and I genuinely feel for him as everything that could go wrong does on that sad day at the bank. Part of me has to wonder whether the real Sonny was as colorful as Al, but I'm probably better off not knowing. Earlier in the week I watched a Fellini film called Nights of Cabiria and it was interesting. It wasn't as abstract as 8 1/2, but the Fellini style was clearly visible with generously curved women playing the major characters in the story. |
