spin that web

I'm not exactly sure when it started, but I've developed a new daily habit that I never could have predicted. Each morning when I return home from work I park my car in my garage. Then as I exit the garage, I hit the switch to close the garage door ducking beneath it and a large spider web. Then as the door is coming down I turn around and snap the outermost strands of the web trying to keep as much as of it as I can off of my fingers.

In three quick moves of my finger, I undo what probably took the spider an hour or more to create. The corner of the garage door is in close proximity to a light which I imagine attracts numerous insects during the night. No doubt this provides a good source of food for the spider, but I have no desire to walk through the webs or even see them there.
