made us believe

Maybe all that I needed to cast off my foul mood from yesterday was to get some quality sleep, because today was a great day for me and I don't think that I could have planned it better than it happened. Nothing too exciting took place, I just felt good. It was a real contrast to Tuesday.

Without trying too hard I finally managed to achieve the correct balance between being productive and still having fun on my weekend. The secret seems to be to do my self assigned tasks during the morning leaving the remainder of the day free. That sounds simple enough, but so often I tend to waste my weekends by not following that formula.

On the productive front, I did a small amount of research into buying a new car and am certain that that can wait until next year. My car isn't quite four years old so there is no real hurry. Then there was some grocery shopping and laundry to do. Once those things were out of the way, I was free to relax through the afternoon and into the evening. With the arrival of my monthly shipment of books from Mile High that was easy to do.

Before my day got started, I was sitting outside the front of my house staring at the street. Instead of asphalt, there was water and I had no idea when or how this had happened. Other people from the neighborhood were also outside taking in this transformation of the landscape. In a very odd way my part of Milwaukee had become a version of Venice complete with gondolas.

None of the people around me knew what had happened, but as we were discussing the problem, the water started to subside. Soon the street was clearly visible and everything seemed normal. It was then that I woke up.

As to why I dreamt such a thing still puzzles me. First of all, I haven't lived in that neighborhood in years and even when I was there, the closet river was probably a mile or two from my house. Beside the distance, my house was located on a small hill, so there was no way that my street would ever had flooded. Maybe this flood is symbolic of something, but I haven't given it that much thought.

At the beginning of tonight's episode of Smallville, there was a brief tribute to Christopher Reeve, which was nice to see. Long before Tom Welling and Dean Cain, it was Reeve who made the world believe that a man could fly.
