everybody eat now Even before the day started, I knew that this Thanksgiving was going to be different than ones that I had celebrated in the past. Thanks to the war and a few other factors, my siblings and I would not be getting together today. With my sister still in Iraq, my brother a few states to the south and me spending the majority of the day with my girlfriend's family, the table at my parents' house was going to have a few less people around it. I am almost positive that this is the first year ever where it was just my parents, my other sister and my niece sitting down to give thanks. The important part is that everyone is well, but I suspect that my parents would have preferred to have the whole family home for the holiday. What is even worse is that the same thing might also happen this Christmas. |
