pros and cons When I left work this morning, I was in an extremely positive mood and for that I was very grateful. From my perspective, I had survived yet another week without getting reprimanded for something inane and I saw that as a success. Now I understand that that isn't the best way to view a job, but that unfortunately is what I have to do. Plus after starting out my work week last Friday hearing how a friend of mine spent an hour and a half going in circles with our boss discussing his work performance, I was relieved to get away from the place unscathed. The general consensus within the department is that our boss is overly controlling. No one would deny that fact. What does get disputed is how one should handle him and his borderline psychotic behavior. Some people say that you should just let it roll off your back and forget what he says. Others feel the need to try and correct his behavior by at the very least making him aware of it. I usually fall somewhere in between those two options. More than once I have said out loud that our boss is delusional and he has sensed my animosity in the past. As of late I have toned that down a great deal. It really doesn't work to my advantage, but at the same time I refuse to suck up to him like others do in the department. I find that behavior to be pathetic. So why do I keep working there? Here are the pros: Good pay for the amount of work that I do.
Now here are the cons: No room for growth.
Yes. The pros just outweigh the cons, but I am at home away from the insanity that I call work so most of the Alice in Wonderland stuff that I frequently experience has slipped my mind for the moment. |
